I've been on this journey 3 months and here's a little of what I've learned so far…

I have been blessed with a good physique, genes, and metabolism. I have never had to be concerned with my weight nor have I been the least bit interested in a regular fitness program.

But after college life, bad eating habits, a cholesterol test of 265 and then the birth of my 2 wonderful kids, I was pretty unhappy about how my body looked. Not to mention, I felt sluggish most of the time. I realized that I'd actually have to make some changes and work at being in the kind of shape I knew I wanted to be.

I had heard some buzz from girlfriends about LBBC. I started by looking at the website and even looking into other fitness programs. I chose LBBC because of the flexible times, credit policy, location 2 minutes from my home and a 530am workout - which meant I'd have no excuses as to making it to workout. I didn't have to worry about childcare, being too tired after work, etc. So, I signed up to begin first week in January 2010.

The first 2 weeks were pretty hard. Willing myself out of bed in the cold, dark days of January. Facing the infamous "hill" week after week. However, my instructor Christine was always there - smiling and offering encouragement every step of the way.

I hadn't planned on taking much of the nutrition aspect into consideration. Christine encouraged me to at least try what the program suggested since I was paying for it after all, and I might learn something. Boy was she right, I started journaling that first week only to find out I was consuming about 2200 calories per day!!! What a wake up call! I knew I'd never look/feel how I wanted to with that kind of caloric intake. And Lord knows I didn't want to work any harder than I already was in Boot Camp class.

It’s been 3 x/week for 3 months. I have sooo much more energy and feel sooo good!! I encourage anyone to at least try this program. I can promise that if you really "work it" and do all your instructor advises you to do, you will see results. I lost a total of 6 inches after my first 4 weeks.

Don’t be afraid if you feel you’re not "up to" Boot Camp. There are people of all fitness levels and the classes are really geared to wherever you happen to be in your capabilities.

I've been on this journey for 3 months now and here's a little of what I've learned so far…

1. The foam roller is your best friend. Buy it, then use it!! I use mine daily and can testify to its positive effect on sore muscles.

2. You will conquer "the hill". It took me 8 weeks to be able to run all the way up, but I did it!! It is a great sense of accomplishment.

3. Do your food journaling. You'll be surprised what you are intaking and don't even know it. A journal also lets your trainer help you figure out what you could be doing differently.

4. Do talk to and get to know your instructor. After a few weeks, Christine got to know me and my goals, struggles, etc. She was then able to "push" me in class and I get even more out of my workouts. Thank you Christine!! Even when I think I can't, you know I can!!

5. Do know this program is ADDICTING!! "
