Christine is PRESENT!!

July 14: Be Present for the Bigger Picture
Do you love your job?  I spent 14 years at the same corporate company....but every day I wondered what I'd do when I grow up.  I'm all grown up now, and I finally found a job that I love. I'm a kick ass trainer for LBBC!  I love my job whole heartedly without hesitation.

No matter what it is you do for your job or in your life, do it with heart and be present in every moment.  A positive attitude is everything.  Life is tough. There is so much going on all the time that we lose ourselves in our to do lists.  Step away for a moment and just take a deep breath.  It will all still be there but now you have a clearer space to think and to take it one task at a time.  In my corporate job, I was always so wound up getting the tasks completed that I often missed the bigger picture.  Always keep the bigger picture in mind.

My bigger picture is my family.  Jae (the hubby) and Bella (my little sweetness) are my life.  As a wife and a parent, I find myself getting pulled down by all the details of life.  Sometimes I sit around wondering if anyone is noticing all the hard work involved in just BEING.  If the dishes don't get done, the laundry piles up, the house gets messy, the dinner doesn't get cooked, the lunches don't get packed....will anyone notice?  That question has been haunting me lately. The details. I'm so focused on getting it all done that I forgot why those details matter.  Those are the every day details of my family.  And yes, it is another job, but I shouldn't treat it as such.  Family is not a job. Family is heart. It takes time and patience and love.  I'm a task master to the core and I've been driving myself into the ground striving for perfection.  But Bella doesn't need a perfect mommy and Jae doesn't need a perfect wife.  They need a PRESENT mommy and a PRESENT wife.  I need to BE PRESENT in my life. Be here for the moments regardless of dirty dishes and unfolded laundry. "Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am trying. It is hard.  Putting it out there is hard. It is raw. But I know so many of you struggle with life's details, too.  It is why we connect as people.  This is why I love my job as a trainer. I am like you.  I do the workouts that I instruct you to do. I push myself so I can push you.  I am sore when you are sore. But....when you are tired, I give you the jolt you need to finish; when you are discouraged, I remind you of your journey; when you are bored, I spice it up and shake it up; when you are stronger, I give you more weights; when you are faster, I give you more sprints; when you are happy, I give you a hug.  YOU are why I love my job. Thank you.

So in the hour that I have with you every morning, please BE PRESENT. Be fully present for every physical and mental moment of class.  It's not just exercises; the BIGGER PICTURE is you living a healthier, active life.  Give me the full hour and you will reap the benefits all day long.  "You never regret the days you workout but you always regret the days you don't." Or something like that. It's an anonymous quote Shannon shared in class.

See you in the morning!
