Kiola's Struggles

Back to Work
Taking a few days to reset my mind and body have been great, however, now it’s back to the daily grind….
Have you ever seen a picture of yourself and thought “Holy Guacamole!! I let myself go.”? Well this week, I had that feeling. Although we are in week 4 of the 90 day challenge, I still feel like I’m struggling with my own personal goals. Have you ever tried to make positive lifestyle changes, but realized that incorporating the changes were tougher than you thought? I’m here to tell you that even the best trainers and fitness leaders have their ups and downs. If you’ve ever reached a ‘bump’ in your plans, remember that there’s always a chance to get up and keep on moving.
As we begin the next 30 days of the 30-60-90 Challenge, I find myself looking for a new plan of attack; maybe a new strategy of reaching my goals. I’m doing great getting in lots of water and working out 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes, but where I’m lacking is the time management and journaling departments. My plan for the first 30 days was to spend about an hour on Sundays to get the upcoming week mapped out, seemed like an easy task. One thing I’m learning about myself during this challenge is that at times, I let procrastination win. When I realize this, I remind myself that procrastinating means choosing last.  If I don’t take the time to plan ahead, I’m setting myself up for failure; the saying is ‘If you fail to plan, you plan to fail’. Having a clear and concise plan is the first step on the road to achieving any goal we set for ourselves. For the next 30 days, I’ve decided to ask for a little help from my accountability partner, we all chose a partner during the 30-60-90 enrollment, use them!
I’ve decided to use my accountability partner, Precious Johnson, to help me reach my goal of better time management. She has agreed to help me out by sending me a text message on Sunday evening to remind me to plan my schedule for the week. In return, I’ll send her a text during the week to remind her to drink more water. Having a partner along the way during this challenge is an asset we should remember to take advantage of. You can keep one another motivated, encourage each other to continue working toward your goals and celebrate together when you succeed at making healthy life style changes.
I also have to keep in mind that achieving goals should be enjoyable, not stressful, so if after a few weeks my plan needs revising I have to be okay with this. As long as I don’t give up, I win! Whenever I feel like I’m not moving quickly enough toward my goals, or I’m not at the place in my life I envisioned that I’d be, I reflect on this quote:
‘Defeat does not finish a man – QUIT DOES. A man is not finished when he is defeated, he’s finished when he quits.’ Richard Nixon
If the going gets REALLY tough my favorite quote:
‘NEVER, NEVER, NEVER QUIT.’ Winston Churchill
Let’s keep moving forward to the healthiest mind, body & spirit we’ve ever had. WE CAN DO IT!
