Journey With Jo

  • I'm a Runner

I'm beginning a new story this week.

    It's titled I'm A Runner.

In lieu of the broken record that told me I'm not,
I keep reminding myself that I am.
    I was born to run.

Now, I may be more of a sturdy Clydesdale than a Thoroughbred, but that just means I may not be the first to cross the finish line. But I can finish! Years of gymnastics can't hold me back. I am determined - so look out knees!

  • Under Construcion

    Hard Hats Required

by Jo Hendrix & Shannon Paul

What are you made of? What’s holding you together and holding you up?

  • The All-or-Nothing Approach

We are all on our own journey.

Wherever you are on your journey, it's okay.

I want you to stop beating yourself about it. Feeling badly certainly won't do you any good. In fact, it will likely hold you back and keep you from moving forward.

  • Growing with Pride

When we allow ourselves to be open, amazing things happen

  • Gospel of Google Calendar: Peace Begins With Organization

"Be the change you want to see in the world." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Families, schools, religions, nations, all people... we want peace in every aspect of our lives. What keeps you from feeling at peace?

We get stressed out as we lose our sense of control. Worst of all it can send us into reactions that don't serve us. We might take it out on ourselves emotionally or we might project our unhappiness onto others.

  • Motivated to Lose

After going off the deep end during the holidays,

many of us seek to lose our excess weight come the New Year. We permit our binge and then punish ourselves with a strict diet or excessive exercise routine until we manage to feel even worse about ourselves when we fail to hold up to our extremely high standards.

  • Negotiations & Triggers

Before you accept negotiations with yourself ask,
"If I were letting down my friend the way I am letting myself down, would I be so apt to do so?

We set goals for ourselves, make commitments to do more, be better, and live a more purposeful existence, yet we can easily get derailed by our negotiations and the pull of our old story.

  • Workin' On My Fitness

    by Jo Hendrix

After Assessment Day, I'm feeling GREAT about my fitness - physical AND mental!

Even though I am celebrating being physically recovered (for the most part) from an injury that set me back a good 6 months, it is my mental fitness that I am most proud of. Within those 6 months I tried to get back into my workout routine with a jog here & there, but I kept getting denied by pain & frustrated with each attempt. I faced the reality that my knee was not ready to let me do what I thought it should be ready to do. Hmph.

  • Changes

    by Jo Hendrix

What changes do you notice in yourself since beginning Boot Camp?

    Increasing:

    Strength

Your core isn't the only thing that is stronger! Your shoulders are starting to increase the sculpted look in your arms, and those biceps are budding beautifully. Your legs are tighter, your butt a little more lifted & your calves have the hill to thank for their definition.

  • Nutrition - Treat Yourself Well

    by Jo Hendrix

Nutrition is THE most challenging behavior to change.

Why? Because it is such a BIG part of our lives.  Culture, family life, social scene, work environment, holidays, celebrations, pleasure, comfort, convenience, habit & addiction - these are all aspects of why many people find it so difficult to change their nutrition habits.  Not only is it THE most difficult behavior to change, but it also plays the lead role in changing body composition (70-80% of this act is ALL nutrition).
