Long Beach Boot Camp
Newsletter - November 2011 - Issue #43 |
|
Dear Boot Campers,
'Tis the season for over-indulgence.
Hopefully that translates to getting an extra hour of sleep and not an extra 5 pounds!
Daylight savings is November 6th so remember to FALL BACK - clocks will go from 2am to 1am. That means you get an EXTRA HOUR of sleep! :)
Might be a good time to start getting to 5:30am class!
Veterans day is November 11th and we are so grateful to the service men and women who have given so much. I'm thankful that my favorite cousin will be coming home before the end of the year!!!
We hope you enjoy your loved ones and find ways to celebrate your gratitude for your family, body and health on Thanksgiving. Sharing is caring! Cheers! |

Restaurants: Dime a Dozen? PLUS: 9 Tips for Dining Out
By Jo Hendrix and Shannon Paul
A Dozen Calories a Dime?
Luckily many restaurants are jumping on board with the healthy lifestyle our society is craving. With federal legislation passing last year, large chain restaurants are forced to list the number of calories in each menu item, and we are able to make informed choices. This change has also pushed restaurants to provide healthier options to keep up with the decline in sales of the calorically dense foods.
When you are feeding your own family, you make more conscientious decisions about your ingredients. The same is often true for family owned restaurants who are more likely to have fresher ingredients with a higher nutrient and mineral content than many chain restaurants.
Choose responsibly. Slow, organic, and local foods support local farmers, reduce transit time and eliminate pesticides from the environment & our consumption. Ask where your restaurant gets their produce.
Even when we think we are making smart menu choices we can be blindsided by calorie dense dishes.
Try considering these tips when dining out:
