Dear Shannon,
Did you get to watch some of the amazing athletes of the Winter Olympics last month? How did watching the Games impact you? Were you inspired by their stories of personal triumph? Many of them battled coming back from serious injuries and or defeat. I was quick to stop feeling sorry for myself after hearing their stories.
The Olympic Games motivate me to reach for more. It calls to the spirit of my inner athlete. With heart & determination, you can make it happen. Live in the moment and make it yours.
Make the conscious decision every day to choose your dream over a moment of indulgence or discomfort. For your destiny is greater than your temptations and weaknesses. You're worthy of your goal & your goal is worthy of your best.
Make this month your time to make what you see on the outside match what you feel on the inside. Reconnect with that positive person inside of you, begging to be set free. It's not so much the product, but rather the process. Love yourself for where you are today.

Sharing Success
By a Boot Camper from Shannon's 9am Women's class.
I started boot camp wanting to lose some much unwanted weight. When I first came I was very intimated by all the strong people, but one person said how fabulous boot camp was and all I had to do was "do what Shannon says." I kept coming to boot camp and journaling what I ate and I "did what Shannon said." So far I have lost 25 lbs.
I admit, getting to boot camp can be difficult at times, but after the workout I am always happy I chose to come. I have more strength, endurance, muscles, and friends. Boot Campers are a fun healthy group of people who are very positive and encouraging. I really don't like to imagine what my life would be without boot camp. I came to lose weight but I stay for all the benefits I never even expected.

What a great hill!!

For all those who came out to the hill Friday, I would like to say AWESOME JOB! Man, we ended the week on a high. A bootcamp buzz. I saw some new faces out there on the hill, and some that never miss. I love that those new faces accepted my challenge earlier in the week to try the hill. Thank you for rising up! You did great!

What changes do you notice in yourself since beginning Boot Camp?
Increasing:
Strength
Your core isn't the only thing that is stronger! Your shoulders are starting to increase the sculpted look in your arms, and those biceps are budding beautifully. Your legs are tighter, your butt a little more lifted & your calves have the hill to thank for their definition.
Stamina
You can actually get through your day without that lull! The paradox is paying off - who knew that spending more energy could mean receiving more energy?! Continue to invest in your health & fitness. Dividends await.

The Old Shoe Test
One way of identifying your particular f oot or gait characteristics is to closely inspect an old pair of running shoes. This may well give some clues as to if you are in an appropriate shoe, and if not which shoe may be more suitable. Place your old shoes on a flat table and look at them from directly behind (looking at the heel).

Dealing With Difficult People

First, understand that you needn't take the words/actions of the difficult person personally. They have nothing to do with you and everything to do with them. Most of the time, difficult people are insecure, lonely and unhappy people who try to bring others into their web of misery. Don't fall prey! Stay above the fray to maintain your sanity and composure.
Here are a few suggestions for dealing with difficult people:
