Welcome to Long Beach Adventure Boot Camp's Newsletter
Dear Shannon,
Thank you for making us, and fitness in general, a part of your life. You are wise to m ake it a priority in these stressful times. Having that outlet, as well as making time that is truly just for you, is rewarding. We have a NEW Boot Camp Nutrition Journal that we are proud to present to our Boot Campers this session. We are also grateful to be growing, adding more classes and trainers to the mix. Check our online calendar for current schedule.
Spring is here! Longer days, nicer weather, sunshine, spring break, Easter bunnies, peeps, chocolate eggs...
WAIT!!!!!!!! Step away from the high fructose corn syrup! You
are not about to load your body full of those high calorie sugary shiny
wrapped treats. Maintain your composure. You have serious fitness goals
here, and they've gotta outweigh the temporary delights the proverbial
Easter basket holds. Focus on your goals, and avoid the sabotage/guilt; run if you must.
=)
Processed sugars and other high-glycemic starches increase inflammation in your body as they increase your blood
sugar. Treat yourself well by making better choices for your body. You are worth it.
As always, we encourage you to communicate your cares, questions, and concerns to us because we truly desire to help you toward achieving your goals with great success. Whether it be through informational newsletters, a friendly phone call, or just giving you a place where you can come to be motivated into a great workout, we hope that you know your steps toward success matter to us. You matter to us. We are here to help.Thank you for allowing us into your personal lives.Sincerely,Shannon Paul, Caroline Fiegen, Shawdee Ghavimi & Jo HendrixFitness Through Motion, Inc.Home of Long Beach Adventure Boot Camp & Long Beach Running Boot Camp

Top 10 Anti-Inflammatory Foods
No, it doesn't mean you can toss your Aleve - these foods fight the invisible inflammation that silently threatens our health.
Chronic, low-grade inflammation almost always lurks ben eath the surface of diabetes and excess weight. You can't usually see or feel the damage, but this type of inflammation significantly increases the risk of coronary heart disease. Low-grade
inflammation has also been linked to an increased risk of cancer and
Alzheimer's disease. Your doctor can measure it with the
"high-sensitivity C-reactive protein," or CRP, test.
Processed sugars and other high-glycemic starches increase inflammation,
just as they raise blood sugar, according to an article in the March 2002 American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Aspirin, ibuprofen, and many other drugs reduce inflammation, but they
pose a risk of side effects and no doctor's going to suggest taking
these drugs on a regular basis because your CRP is elevated. However,
many foods have anti-inflammatory benefits, and the only side effects
are other stellar health benefits. Here are 10 of the best:- Salmon
- Olive oil
- Dark Green Salads
- Cruciferous Vegetables
- Cherries
- Blueberries
- Turmeric
- Ginger
- Garlic
- Green Tea

8 Servings: 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons) 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard 2 teaspoons honey 1/4 teaspoon dried herbs (ie: oregano, basil or Herbs de Provence work nicely) pinch salt fresh ground pepper
Just put all the ingredients in a jar with a tight fitting lid and shake, shake, shake! Use about 1 Tablespoon dressing per 2 cups shredded lettuce, mixed greens or steamed vegetables. Toss with salad now, and keep leftover dressing in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Additional Serving Suggestions: Try with Greek salad ingredients such as romaine lettuce, red onion, tomato, cucumber, and reduced fat feta cheese. Use as a marinade for chicken, lamb or fish.

Sharing Success: A Boot Camper's Story I want to thank you all for your support. Just to think that just over a year ago I weighed 225 lbs. and am now almost down to 160, which I would have never thought possible. I couldn't have done it without you, well maybe, but LBBC was certainly the catalyst and made it possible for me. My life has now changed and I owe it to your instruction and training. From regular exercising to nutrition to healthy living, I've learned so much from you. I am now committed to my new healthy life style. I want to especially thank Caroline! From her strength, encouragement, to her quotes and hugs, she's a great asset to LBBC and a positive influence to Long Beach. You are all doing a great service to the community, keep it up. THANK YOU TO OUR BOOT CAMPERS WHO WERE WILLING TO SHARE THEIR STORIES TO INSPIRE OTHERS. To share your story, please email Jo@LongBeachBootCamp.com
